The Beginnings of a Book

March 28, 2010

You might recall that for the past couple of years Elizabeth Foss and I have shared daily promptings throughout the 40 days of Lent, reminding moms of small ways to pray, fast, and give every day.

Last year, at the end of Lent, many moms asked if these daily devotions were available in book form. Which gave us an idea.

“Why not give them a whole year?” Elizabeth asked.

And so the concept for our joint book project was born: Small Steps for Catholic Moms: Think. Pray. Act. Every Day.

As we worked our way through the book and through the year, focusing on a different virtue for each month, Elizabeth and I shared many helpful and inspiring email and phone conversations.

And it was then that we thought, Why not give other moms fodder for fruitful reflection and discussion as well?

And so the idea for the Small Steps Companion Journal was born. The journal is written for individual use as well as group study. It’s been my experience that when women come together to support and encourage one another in committing to our callings and living lives of virtue, God never fails to bless those efforts.

We hope that Small Steps for Catholic Moms and its companion journal will bless and encourage you as you seek to grow closer to Christ. Working on these books together has certainly blessed us.
